Someone recommenced me Louann's coconut oil in another thread. I had mentioned that I could only find expensive Coconut Oil (Extra Virgin Organic, etc..)

I finally found some of louann's and it was a good price.

When I got home and opened it the oil was gold/orange and had no coconut smell.

I am used to coconut oil being clear ( in liquid state) and white in the fridge. Also, it smells like coconut oil.

Can this be because I have previously only used Extra Virgin First Cold Pressed stuff?

Thanks

Hi! I have purchased the LouAnn brand from Walmart. It's clear with virtually no smell. Definitely not orange.

I wouldn't be concerned about it. I used to use Luann's all the time back before I started buying my CO in bulk, and it was always a golden color for me when in its warm, liquid state, but stark white when cold and hard. It also never smelled of coconut. It's like that for me with my bulk CO, too. The only CO I know of that is clear when liquid and that smells of coconut is Virgin Coconut Oil. The type that Luann processes is not the virgin kind.

HTH!

HI.

Thanks for the quick responses. I am going to refrigerate it and see it it turns a solid white.

I plan on using it for soap so not too worried. Was just curious about the drastic difference between it and the other types I have used.
