i have some space at the top of my house which i'd like to use for my ever expanding collection of soaps but the problem is that the room has big windows, gets a LOT of sunshine and gets really, really hot in summer time - would this harm the soap? i mostly soap using natural ingredients as colourants so would the colours fade in bright sunlight? i was planning on stacking the soap on metal baker's racks with thin wooden shelves.

Some colors fade and I believe sunlight accelerates rancidity. If you must use that room, I would find a way to cover the soap.

some essential oils are phototoxic. Soaps with those would need to be shielded from direct sunlight.

Can you put some film on the windows and/or curtains or blinds up? It would help a lot to keep some of the heat out.
