Stinky soap?

Need some help here. I made a honey soap with almond fragrance which turned out great. Now, about six months later I grabbed a bar and it stinks! Very sour, like sour milk but there is no milk, just coconut oil, palm, olive, castor, and honey. I pulled out another bar made with anise and not only did the anise completely fade away ( I do not remember what I blended it with) but this one has the same stinky odor. What the heck is going on? The rest of my soaps are fine, I just did the smell test before writing. There are no orange spots or weepy areas, it looks like normal soap. has anyone else had this happen? Is my FO bad? It smelled fine! Thank in advance.

A lot of FO's and EO's don't last overt time; it's why I test every new scent for at least a year.

Did you use the same oils for both batches? Could be one has gone bad.

Any other ideas? My oils do not smell, I just made soap yesterday. The almond FO has been used in multiple batches without bad results. Weird...

Offhand it sounds like one or more of the oils went rancid. Soap with rancid oils stinks!

Speaking of stinky soap, does the kelp smell ever go away? I only used a teaspoon in a 5 lb. log but it threw off off the cucumber scent I used.

For me, it didn't. In fact, it got worse when used/wet. Like my dogs rolled through dead fish

I figured I did use too much, but it's the only batch I've ever had to toss; so I didn't feel like trying again.
