I am a real newbie and just getting ready to start. Have done a lot of reading to prepare. How much time should I set aside for my first project? A full weekend? One day?

a couple of hours, depending on how much soap and how involve the kind of soap you are making is. if you just want to color and scent it, then 30 mins at most...
