does spirulina leave speckles, if so how can i prevent this. i thought i read somewhere once that you can strain the lye(if that's where you put your color) before incorporating it. would this be the case with spirulina, if not what can i do. i'm looking for green, like mint, and i can't find chlorophyll, so thats out of the question. has anyone tried spinach baby food? sorry i know i just asked a lot of questions. lol.

I have used powdered spinach from the health food store . I mixed it very well with some 1/4 cup of oil from my batch ,you can start with a tsp and add more to make the color you want. I tried straining it through a coffee filter ,it didn't work to well , lost to much color to the filter . I added it at trace .I plan to SB it next time or through a sieve lined with pantyhose. It made a nice green that did have small specks.

One note about spirulina, from what I've seen it creates more of a blue-green color.

I used a very small amount of spirulina powder recently in a batch of avocado soap. This had avocado oil as well as avocado pulp pureed and added to the oils before the lye. The spirulina was blended into a small amount of aloe juice and also SBd into the oils before the lye. I added 1/4 tsp of the spirulina to a 1000 gram oil weight batch and got a soft avocado green colour. It is very fine powder and I didn't get any speckles. Here is a link to a page with a spirulina coloured soap I found when researching this as a colouring. Scroll down the page:-
