So I got the bug this past week and kinda went crazy with the soaping. Some I can say I am fairly happy with while others I feel bad about but will share just the same.

Here is a coffee soap, replaced water with brewed coffee and added 1/2 C coarse ground coffee at trace. A basic OO and CO unscented. Actually happy with this one, nice and simple.

Tea tree oil made with brewed green tea. Again basic OO and CO.

This one I got a little crazy and may have messed up. I used dried, ground lemon rinds, sage, and lemon/sage EO. The scent is lighter than I would like and after I made the soap I read how to better retain citrus :( Then these dark spots are all over and am not sure what they are, the lemon rinds? the sage? Not sure. I almost like this one except for the dark spots.

And here is my first OO with Babassu oil. I added a little Beach Breezes that I had left over from a friend's request. I learned I cannot prevent gel in a loaf pan. :(

And then my cow paddy soap. I almost made something great but hurried through it because I had been out of town for weeks and was having a soap withdraw. I infused a bunch of fresh garden herbs in OO for 5 weeks which seemed to work out fine. Strained it and used the oil with I think it was just CO. Then I added ground dried herbs at trace. It took forever to trace so I think I messed up my lye percentage. The soap is a bit spongy and oily. It falls apart pretty quickly in water but it does lather fine so I use it for kitchen sink hand soap. Oh yeah, and the mold I used, I use food containers, was too flimsy and collapsed so I have a flat, mushy, greenish lump of cow paddy soap.

In the mold I have a lavender soap that I hope hope hope turns out beautifully. I shall see this PM.

You had a fun time! They (almost) all look great and I love how evenly you got the herbs in the lemon sage soap. I don't used organic materials in my soaps (I'm a chicken about how it will hold) but I'm sure someone will have some opinion on the small spots in it. I still think it looks great.

The cow patty is hilarious. We all have our bad batches, which can be pretty awful and awfully funny. you should keep the photos because there is the occasional ugly bar thread- no offense meant (I've contributed to them too and almost got top honors!)

Don't worry too much about your partial gel in the loaf. Over time, as the soap cures, it will become much less evident.

THanks for posting you pictures!! I love looking at other people's soaps.

Oh how I hope the cow paddy soap wins the ugly soap award cuz it is terrible

Good to know that the partial gel will not be as evident over some time. I am just giving them to friends and family so it really is not too big of a deal, a learning experience as always.

I might have one to post to make you feel better. I had two batches turn out okay- one of those was just about what I wanted. Got greedy and made a third batch. I think it's going to look like roadkill. It's in the oven attempting a gel. Bloody mess.

Okay,I thought you'd get a kick out of this.

My first batch- can't complain at all, but it wasn't what I had in my head. No complaints, though. ( gr. Irish Tweed)

Feeling lucky, I went on and got a good result- very happy with this. (drakkar)

Well, third time's a charm, right? Now I've got it. And.... (reindeer poo. yes, seriously)

It looks like someone with an ulcer barfed up their milk and meatloaf.

Fabulous soaps ... it's great that you're addicted ... this can be so much fun and I love looking at your soap!

How does your coffee soap feel? I used only a couple of teaspoons of the grounds in the top of my soap ... so I'm curious as to how a 1/2 cup feels.

Love your swirls ... love your soaps!

I haven't used the coffee soap yet but have soon since I am giving it to someone soon. I will let you know. I used that much with a prior batch but used a fine ground and thought I would like a coarser one.

The swirled soaps are very pretty! Your comment about milk vomit made me a little sick and giggle at the same time, too funny!

I hope you don't think I was trying to steal your thread by putting pictures in. I thought you might enjoy someone else's complete bust and the work up to thinking a soap might come out nicely. I apologize about the larf (laughing and barfing at the same time).

I have never made a coffee soap. It will be fun to hear how you like it with the coarser grounds. Did you make it for the kitchen?

I enjoy other's pics and I am pretty easy going, never thought you were stealing anything

I used the coffee soap last night and I liked it on my skin however I think if someone has sensitive skin it may be too much exfoliation for them. If it were a less coarse grind I think it would be better.

I made coffee soap for whatever use. My hubby always make too much coffee and I got tired of dumping it down the drain so coffee soap will always be in our home. I love the color the brewed coffee gives the soap and it doesn't show up in the lather unlike the cocoa I used once.

Thanks for that info serfmunke. I've not tried mine yet, but I'm hoping it won't be too 'rough' ... but since the grounds are all in top of my soap ... it could still be too much.

I love poppy seeds in soap ... so if the coffee doesn't feel good, I'll go back to adding them.

It's cool that you've found a great way to use what would otherwise be 'wasted' coffee!

I have seen the poopy seeds and I love them, was thinking of putting them as a middle "layer". Soon:)
