What I have noticed when formulating recipes, I usually put coconut at 20%, I'm kind of nervous about going higher on this unless I'm making a salt bar.

The cleansing usually turns out around 17 or less (as per soapcalc)
is this number too low?

Even the recipe I would like to make for my carrot soap, I have upped the co to 25% just to get a cleansing of 17 - will 25% be be drying? I'd like this to be a facial soap

If i dropped down to 20%, I only get a cleansing of 14

I'm planning to add 40% puree carrot to 60% GM LS
Has anyone successfully used a higher % of puree to their soap?

I have some carrot powder I want to add to the soap for added power aka "nutrient benefits" @maybe 1/2 tsp ppo, and I'm also thinking to add some GSE

(any feedback on this formula would be great too, thanks)

...Also I would like to do some infused oils with herbs and such, does anyone have any recommendations on books/links/etc??

You don't want a high cleansing number for face soap. You can drop the coconut back down to 22% and substitute sweet almond oil at 28% for the rice bran oil and get a more conditioning bar with good creamy and bubbly lather.

I think going too much higher on coconut would be drying for a facial soap, I probably wouldn't go above 30% for that.
Remember, cleansing doesn't mean clean in soap calc, it refers to the amount of oil that is being removed. Even soaps with 0 for cleansing will get someone clean. My regular recipe that I use has a cleansing of 12.

I don't usually use my carrots as part of the liquid, instead I add them at trace, so I'm no help there.

Here's a couple videos on 2 different ways to infuse oils
