I am soaping today - yay...

I ordered a bunch of 1oz fragrances and want to test out some 1 - 2lb batches. I am going to use the 1oz bottles of FO... I know some may be weak at .05 ppo but want to see how they turn out.

My base receipe is oo 48%, co 32% and PO 20%... Is this a good base?

I've used it from the beginning and like it but want to get an idea from all you more experienced soapers :)

I do have some veg tallow that I can put in there as well... First time ordering this from Columbus so not sure about it.

Thanks :)

Hi there! Looks like a great base! With a good (and long) cure, you should have a wonderful bar that's well balanced.

Consider a water discount for a shorter cure,

How much of a discount. I usually do a 8% SF with a 36% GM..

I've never heard that castor causes DOS.
I use castor in every batch, I've never had DOS.

I am probably thinking of Canola... Sorry... I will have to put castor in my next order at columbus...

Thank you for the tip.

So in a recipe like this where you experienced soapers take from to be able to add 10% castor?

In a formula with that much coconut oil, I see no need for castor. Coconut is better at big bubbles than castor. If realty want it in there, cut back on palm and olive.
