It's been a rough day, so I thought maybe a little levity might help.

What are some of your soaping foibles.....the big WOOPSES of your soaping projects? Mine include....

1) Not rinsing out my soaping equipment before putting it in the dishwasher......made for a VERY clean kitchen floor.

2) Setting a timer for my CPHP, and then forgetting to hit START.....Mt Vesuvious in the kitchen.....what an eruption.

3) Giving myself an alpha hydroxy chemical peel before I realized that those instructions really MEANT IT when they said you needed protective equipment when handling raw soap.

4) Made toasted, beautifully browned rebatches when I decided to hurry things up with direct heat on the stove.

5) Wondering why your soap isn't smelling right, and then looking over on the counter to see the UNUSED fragrance oil staring mockingly back at you.

6) Using outdated instructions for rebatching, and using way too much liquid and getting little shrunken, distorted, blobs.

 What are some of yours?

Not asking what milk fat (bovine) is/was and finding out latter that it's not exactly cow's milk. So I know to ask if I don't understand something entirely now.

OH how I hate this one!! I've done this so many times I can't even count them anymore. UGH

That and having a vision of how I want my soap to come out and having my soap have a mind of it's own and do it's own thing regardless of what my vision is/was...

knocking an entire bottle of red food coloring over on the stove because I didn't screw the lid back on

NOT reading the ENTIRE directions for making gm soap & burning the gm when adding it to the lye. thought I was gonna PUKE!!! The smell was horrible.

taking off the gloves before I rinsed the bowl that I mixed my lye in. Nasty little burn on the thumb.

I'm sure there are more...those just came to mind first LOL

Sorry, I can't contribute to this thread. You see, I never make mistakes!

Believe that?

Try SBing for a way long time, wondering why this batch is simply not tracing, looking over and seeing the lye/water sitting on the counter.
I grabbed the wrong container. Won't do that again. I hope.

Xtra clever

Oh my.
That one must be at the tops.
3 star one X X X

The only real catastrophe I've had was the time I knocked almost an 8oz bottle of fragrance oil off my counter (and the lid was off). Wasted it all, and my house smelt like that fragrance for WEEKS! It wasn't a really nice one either.

while doing a layered log of soap, mixing enough soap for one layer in a small lard bucket and transfering the traced soap from the kitchen counter to the kitchen table by carrying said bucket by handle and having handle snap off. covering me and my kitchen in raw soap.

I am still fairly new to CP soaping with 13 batches under my belt....but I can relate to realising I left out the FO waaaay too late to do anything about it; and my latest - using a new silicone log mould for a batch, pouring in the batter only to have the sides bow out like a bowl

You should have seen me panic! Calling out to anyone and everyone "quick come help me"! DD holding in the sides while I textured the top and DH hunting up bricks in the yard to block it up!!!

I have a silicone loaf pan that did that to me.....actually that was my first textured soap because I was soaping with stearic acid and a spice FO (DUMB, but I needed to harden the bar). It traced in a nanosecond and I was barely able to pour it into the mold. By the time I got the sides propped up, the top was too thick to smooth, so I textured it and sprinkeled ground coffee on it.

Turned out to be nice soap......nice soap that took ten years off my life.

I've put a red plastic cup on the counter, but hadn't washed it all down yet. The cup sat in a small splash of fragrance oil. A half hour later I had a (as far as I know) permanent bright red circle on my counter... I've tried and tried - it's staying...

First batch had 4 different EO's and I left one of them out, but I love the way it smells anyway, use it everyday.

Turned my head to talk to my DD and tilting SB in the crock pot and splashing raw soap on me, the floor and the counter. Stopped to clean up the mess, stood the SB up in the crockpot, it fell over and splashed out more.

mr. clean magic eraser bar, these things are great.

I love those eraser thingies!!! They take care of everything!!
My last couple of batches the FO ran off the counter and hid from me! Then it comes back once the soap is in the mold and stands on the counter laughing its rear end at me!!

I'm going to catch it one of these days and actually put it in the soap before its poured....it just doesn't know that yet!

Lets see....scratching my face only to realize I had lye on my hand while I was carrying the lye into the house....then after I poured the soap into the mold I threw the towel over my shoulder not realizing there was raw soap on it....enter lye burned neck.

Me and lye aren't on speaking terms right now

OWWWWWWW! :(

I can see why.

Sticking my thumb in a bowl of premeasured green colorant and having to listen to every "green thumb" crack in the book for two days. :)
