I just recieved Soaper's Choice Virgin Coconut Oil yesterday and I was wondering if it's suppose to stay liquid. I've kept in in a cool place and it never harden and just stayed in liquid form. I try using it in a whipped body butter thinking it was going to harden up but it never did. So my whipped body butter is like a foamy slush. So I considered the virgin coconut oil as a soft oil in a body butter recipe instead of a hard oil? Has anymore bought Soaper's Choice Virgin Coconut Oil before?

I haven't bought Soapers Choice VCO but I have bought VCO in stores. It was always solid but very soft. How hot is it where you live?

BTW, I buy SC 76 coconut oil and it has been a bit slushy because of how hot the house has been.

It's 87 degrees where I am today. I keep the jug in a cool spot but it's pure liquid. Last night it got down to 70 degrees outside so my house was pretty cool and still liquid. I'm so confused by this. :?

I don't know why it didn't solidify if it cooled down to 70. I checked on the melt point for VCO and it was listed as 76. What kind of container is it in? Could the container be holding in some heat? Did you try setting some in the frig to see if it would solidify?

I think 2 lbs wouldn't stay warm if it was in a cool spot. How cool is your cool spot compared to the warm spots in your house? I know this sounds like an odd question but I'm always amazed at how hot certain parts of the house is compared to other rooms and how some rooms retain heat through the night. (It's an older house.) I actually have felt a temperature change when I walk from one end of the house to the other. It's more noticeable in the winter but there is still some difference in the summer.

It's a 7 pound jug. I moved the jug to the room I'm in now because I have the AC on and I wanted to see if it would get solid. The AC is on 60 degrees and the jug has been here for 2hrs and it's still liquid. I'm guessing this isn't the right oil to use in a whipped body butter as a hard oil. I'm going to have to use it as a soft oil since that's all it's good for.

Sorry! At a job I had, I was taught to use the # sign to designate pounds so I thought you only had 2 pounds of VCO. You may have to leave it overnight to see if it gets solid. You could also stick it in a frig.

You're right. It probably wouldn't work well as a whipped body butter during hot months but it would be awesome in an emulsified sugar scrub scented with a fruity citrus type of FO. :D

Hazel it's finally 72 degrees here and my body butter finally got thicker. The coconut oil finally got somewhat harden. You're right I might have to stick to the cooler months for the body butter. I was looking into making a sugar scrub, I love using them. New project I'm going to look into now. Thanks so much for you help. =)
