One thing that bugs me every time I think about it. I know you're gonna laugh but here goes...

People make soap or do they make soaps? I would say, "Look at all that fancy soap", but I've heard people say, "Look at those fancy soaps".

So you see, I'm having a grammar dilemma. :?:

Soap is an uncountable noun . Uncountable nouns cannot be counted normally and have no plural form.( info from the net).
So soap is right .(I think)

ie : I need 1 potatoe , but I have to buy 10 pounds of potatoes to get 1.
ie : I need 1 soap , but I have to buy 10 pounds of soap to get 1.

I had that issue too when I was trying to come up with my biz name...

Sapphire Soap vs Sapphire Soaps

Sapphire Soaps sounds better to me.

It's kind of the same with "beer". Lets drink some beer sounds better to me than lets drink some beers.

I drink beer vs. I drink beers... the second kind of makes it sound like I've already consumed some! lol

I like soap or if you are going to pluralize it I like soapies! tehehehe

It depends. 'Soap' can be used, as can 'soaps' - just like you can in fact sometimes say 'beers'.

"I drank some beer" sounds fine, but so does "I downed four beers."

"I made soap" or "I bought some soap" sounds fine, but so does "Those are pretty soaps" or "She carries four soaps in her Vegan line."

There are quite a few words like this. "I made some bread" but "The store offers a variety of breads." "I got some sand in my eye" but "The sands of time..."

I agree with you, Sapphire Soaps sounds better. When I was coming up with my blog name I decided Saltwell Soap was better than Saltwell Soaps. Now I'm not sure but I could always change it

I make soap.

Most of my soaps are scented.

Singular when I'm talking about soap in a general conceptual sense, plural when I'm referring to tangible, existing soaps of different types (usually...)

Saltwell Soap vs Saltwell Soaps

I think you could go either way....what is Saltwell?

Saltwell Soap sound likes a name for one particular type of soap.

I make soap.

I sell soaps.

Look at that soap...isn't it pretty?

Look at those soaps...aren't they pretty?

Look at all that soap...it's so pretty!

I think there's a right and wrong way to do it....
