soap thats good for eczema

My friend has eczema and i was wondering what some good oils would be to put in my soap that could help her out

You want a really conditioning bar of soap. My customers like the Goat Milk & Honey soap without any fragrance added. Try making a soap with a high olive oil content (80%) and then add some coconut oil (15%) and cocoa butter (5%). I like 8% SF for this bar and I use 100% frozen GM, real honey that I add at trace just before I pour it.

Is there anything one can do to make soaps with a high olive oil percentage trace quicker?

No problem. I increase my lye strength to 35% and I soap with hot lye. I melt my solid oils/butters then add the olive oil. I actually make almost all high olive oil soaps and I soap room temperature. They trace pretty quick for me but still give me enough time to play with colours and swirls, unless I have a fast moving FO.... grrr

Maffyew- I've been considering doing HP for Pure olive oil bars because its supposed to make them harden faster. not sure if it will work but its worth a shot.

Lindy-I just researched the oils in my new soap recipe and they're all used to treat eczema. so ill keep that one, its very moisturizing. i don't have access to cocobutter, but the goats milk and honey should be an awesome addition. thank you for the advise

If your friend who suffers from eczema is using store bought soaps right now, he (or she) will find immediate relief from any hand made soap, no matter what the composition. I make mostly goats milk though, because it's supposed to be the most beneficial for eczema sufferers. My Mister has not had an outbreak for two years (since I started making soaps for us). The key is not to mess up your hand made soaps with a lot of artificial coloring or fragrances. Keep them pure pure pure.

Every soap I have made has been a drastic improvement over anything I could buy in the store.
This is the first Feb. in years that I don't have itchy, dry, eczema covered legs.
I used to scratch them raw in my sleep all winter long.
I am so loving this. I was pretty sure there would be an improvement but this is beyond what I had even hoped for. I have not had to use any prescription steroid creams all winter. Yay for me!

yeah i made it quite a bit ago. I loaded it with condensed goat milk (didnt dilute it) honey and lots and lots of conditioning oils. I added 20% coconut oil but i did a 10% superfat and i threw in a tbsp of coffee grounds ppoo to help with exfoliation my friend is completely in love with it! I gave a bar to my mother to who has psoriasis and she loves it to.

Those are great suggestions. So it would seem any cp soap is going to be an improvement over detergent bars. I'm thinking 80-20/ olive to coconut. some finely ground oats, honey. I always sf around 10%. But I'm also thinking a lotion bar would be a good thing, as like a 'spot treatment' for his rash. This young man doesn't like slathering lotion on, I thought a bar might be more convenient.... I want to keep it real simple no fo or color as I'm not sure what would trigger his eczema, it seems to be different for each person.

Just remember that if you're selling, you can't make any medical claims of 'curing eczema', 'curing psoriasis', etc.
