I just made 2 small batches of soap and divided them into 8 marked plastic cups that I'm using as molds. I added different things to different cups so I can experiment without wasting a lot of products.

Batch 1
1: Nothing added
2. 1 teaspoon ground coffee
3. Warm Vanilla Sugar FO
4. 2 teaspoons of oatmeal

Batch 2
5. Nothing added
6. Peach & Apricot tea
7. Creamsicle scented orange body powder that I don't use
8. 1 teaspoon powdered milk

So far I've learned that it's hard to mix the additives into the soap in the cups, even harder at medium trace than light trace. I wonder if I'll ever get them out of the cups...

Good experiment . You can also pop the cups in the freezer overnight and the soap should pop right out.

What a great experiment. I can't wait to of hear your results.

Awesome! This is an excellent idea that I am going to have to copy. (shameless, but honest, that's me.) This strikes me as a great way to fiddle with colorants. How many ounces did you put in in each mold?

Let us know if you try it! The cups hold 25cl each, so that's 8,5 ounces I think?

I'm such a newbie so I'm wondering how I know if they gelled?

Will do Cookie, now I just have to wait for my colors to come in, or else maybe break into the spice rack! As to the gelling issue, I have no idea. I just learned today on the forum that gelling is apparently unnecessary. I'm still a wee bit confused...

This is really cool

I dont think my soaps ever gel, I never see it happen, they just harden up.

What I've learned:
* It's very hard to get soap out of plastic cups and the soap won't be pretty
* If you bang the plastic cup against the counter, it will shatter
* Non of the ingredients make the soap seize
* Warm Vanilla Sugar does not discolor soap
* The one with the ground oats was a bitch to get out of the mold. I had to peel the plastic off in little tiny pieces
* I did not mix the tea or the coffee one properly
* Coffee grounds doesn't make very brown soap

Is this gelling?

It looks like there was a little bit of color leaking out in #6 (the peach & apricot) I wonder what it was from... I also think that #2 looks nifty, like a bird's egg. It would be awesome if you formed it into egg shapes with that recipe and the coolio speckles.

Number 6 used tea leaves so I guess the color is from that.
