I have a scrapbook of old newspaper articles and I've had lots of extra old newspaper pages for almost 10 years that I've been meaning to put in the book, but never got to it. Well yesterday, my 11 yr old daughter was looking through all of them and she came across the coolest sales ad from The Milwaukee Journal from January 1938. It shows Aimee Hardwater Soap 12 cakes for .59

The little blurb below the cirlce pictures says:
"Wisconsinites by the score favor this soap...benefit by the twice-a-year SAVINGS! It will keep your hands, face and body soft and smooth...its fragrances are fresh as real flowers...its hard milled cake is economical (no moisture).

It came in Jasmin, Almond, Rose, Verbena and Violet scents.

I just thought it was kind of cool, so I thought I'd share it with everyone :)

P.S. If you click on the picture, it will come up to full screen size ;)

That's cool! I love looking at old ads. I especially like the picture caption that says, "Laboratory Tested...For quality and purity.... free from alkalis". They wanted to make sure even back then that people would know that it wouldn't burn your hide off like "grandma's" soap of old. Maybe I can put something like this on my label: "Personally Tongue Tested.....for safety and mildness.... free from alkalis". (just kidding, of course)

IrishLass :)
