A while back I bought some soy silk fibers to add to my cp soaps. I'm not quite sure if I did it right or not.... I added a few shreds to my lye water and let it sit. It didn't quite disolve so I scooped the hairlike pieces out and used the lye mixture anyway. The soap turned out ok but I couldn't really tell much of a difference in it and the other stuff I make.

I found this listing for tussah silk on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/47851726/na ... sted_items it looks just like my soy silk, wonder if there is a difference....

If you have any opinions or feedback on adding silk of any kind please discuss.

Thanks :)

I use raw, tussah silk in all of my batches. I have never tried soy silk. I only add a little bit but it does dissolve in the lye with no visible threads remaining. It does add a luxurious feel to the soap bars.

I'm sure soy silk has a different composition so I'm not surprised that it didn't fully dissolve in the lye. I encourage you to give tussah silk a try.
