Im thinking of packaging my soap by wrapping a band of hessian around it and securing with raffia. The sides will be exposed (like they would be with a cigar band) - is this ok if i was supplying to a shop? Are there any laws on this?

I don't know about laws, but I've noticed that people like to smell things. If they can't smell it, they're not as interested.

It's just you never see exposed soap on supermarket or shop shelves - it's always wrapped in paper or plastic etc. I wondered if this is a trading standards thing?

Our local chain grocery store does have a soap that just has a ribbon around it in the healthfood section. The entire bar is exposed, except for where the 1" ribbon is wrapped around it. It is the same bar that is also in our health food store, unwrapped.
