Hi all you helpful soapers. In an effort to save some money I am thinking of getting 50lb. buckets of coconut and palm oil. I am wondering how long they should last? I live in Michigan and it is 43 deg. for a high today and will only get colder. A cool area in my basement might be around 60 I thought that would be good for storage.

Thanks for your help.

Bruce

I try to find a date from my suppliers. Usually I can keep coconut, palm, olive oils for 2 years, unless I bought them on sale, when they were about to expire.

One to watch out for, with shorter shelf life, is sunflower oil, and a few others of the liquid oils.
