Hi

Does anyone know where I can buy some nice quality shaving brushes to go with my Shaving Sets? I have tried WSP and Cotton Blossoms, but they are so expensive.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Lillybella,

What are you selling, A soap or a brush with soap/kit?

Really nice shaving brushes are expensive. I just paid $125 for a silvertip badger and it was worth every penny. I've seen versions as high as $325.

The brushes sold with products and in kits are generally junk, suitable for the trash once you've tried a good quality brush. A Pure grade Badger is a minimum quality IMHO and you can expect to pay $35 for one minimum, but $50 might get you a better quality knot that will make the brush last a year or so longer.

Every time I see a cheap brush sold with a product I think I wish it wasn't there so I could save the cost of it and just get the good part of that product.

I don't think it's in anybody's best interest to include a junk brush to make an already good product look better. in fact it will probably make your product seem less desirable. Just make a recommendation to use a good quality brush and that will improve your shaving product in most cases. The difference between a pure badger and a silvertip badger is like night and day.

Just my 2 cents after 30 years of personal wet shaving experience.

Thank you for your opinion, manwithbeers
I am actually giving the shaving brush away with the shaving soap in a nice mug. People seem to want a complete set to give.

I surveyed close to 100 male customers about brushes before launching my shaving sets. Every one of them said he has a favorite brush (often very expensive) and couldn't care less about having a brush included with a new mug and soap. They were most interested in the bowl (whether it was comfortable to hold), hopefully unbreakable if it drops, won't rust and mostly the quality of the soap. As a result I stopped including a brush with my shaving sets. It has not hurt my sales. Interestingly, that was not true of women, who like getting brushes if they are buying for themselves, and don't particularly care about "high-end" brushes. I figure that's because most women have never used a brush so it was a novelty for them. YMMV.
