I plan to make a shampoo bar using hot process method and I want opinion with my recipe below:

40% olive oil
20% coconut oil
15% castor oil
15% Palm oil
10 sweet almond

38% water discount
0% SF
6% moringa oil ( I will add in the end after the soap done )
1% patchouli EO
2% lime EO

I would drop the coconut down to 10% and replace it with more almond or avocado if you have it. 15% castor is pretty high, it might be too much. My normal recipe has 10% and its plenty bubbly enough.
What kind of hair do you have? I have fine curly hair and found 6% SF is too much, I use 3% so I won't get gunky hair. I have hard water so that really affects the gunk factor though.

Thank you, we don't have hard water but my hair quite temperamental can be oily or dry one day and fine hair too. Yes I have plenty of sweet almond.

If your shampoo is too cleansing, it will actually make your hair more oily as your scalp tries to fix the dryness. When I use regular shampoo, I have to wash daily or I get oily. When I'm using my shampoo bar, I can go 2-3 days between washing.

You right about that, my old shampoo bar doing the same. I wash my hair every 2-3 days and my hair is ok.

I would drop the coconut to 10% or less. I don't see a problem with the castor amount. I use 15% and I've seen people recommend 20% or more for a shampoo bar. I would also think that the 6% superfat would be too much. I use 2%-3%

Thank you and I will lower my coconut and the SF
