Okay - my shampoo is great to use - however - every time I add more water - it thickens up again but first it separates. Then I mix it back together and it thickens.....what am I doing wrong? I have people who want to buy this from me and I know it's safe to use, that it works, that it leaves hair wonderful - it just doesn't look purdy....

EVOO, CO, Castor, Jojoba, Shea Butter, Egg Yolks, Beer, Aloe Vera Extract, Sugar, Germall Plus Preservative, Phytokeratin PF Protein Blend, Tussah, Silk and of course - water - LOTS of water.....what am I missing????

TIA

shampoo

fosh, i wish i could help, but i've never made liquid shampoo before. i know the beer and eggs are great for the hair. (so is chamomile tea as some of the liquid)

it sounds like you need an emulsifier-maybe guar gum or something like it?

www.aromaticsandmore.com used to have a buch of liquid soap and shampoo recipes.

www.aussiesoapsupplies.com you might look here, too

here's a few others with liquid shampoo emulsions:

www.makingcosmetics.com

www.aquatech-skincare.com

www.lotioncrafters.com

wish i could be more helpful-good luck!

Lindy could you market it as a 'shampoo creme' and not add the water back in? Will it still separate if you keep it as a thick cream? Sorry I can't be more help here :(

definitiely the emulsifier...although egg yolks act as a partial emulsifier i dont think they would hold up for the longevity needed for B&B products... so def need an emulsifier to bring your oils and water together without separation.

I use e-wax...but thats for massage lotions and stuff... still learning so i dont know if thatd be good to use with shampoo or not...which one did you wind up ordering!?!

I bought E-Wax Emulsifying Wax although I do have Stearic Acid....

I'm finding the cream separates a bit too not bad but not good enough for what I want to be my image.....
