Hello,
I wanted to make a one pound batch of shampoo bars with the following recipe...
So I used
6 oz of olive oil
4 oz of coconut oil
6 oz of castor oil
6.5 water

i got a nice thick trace. Turned on my crockpot and checked in a half hour and it was complete liquid. So I let it cook a little longer and it was still liquid.
Any ideas of what might have gone wrong?

Thanks.

How much lye did you use? At what temperature did you soap? I ran the recipe through SoapCalc and it only gave a hardness factor of 26 for the soap. It looks to me like your ratio of Castor oil to coconut oil is a little high. Keep cooking it on low for a while and see what happens. Here is a tutorial on hot process soap, with pictures. It shows the stages the soap goes through while cooking.

i believe it was 2.2 with the lye and i cooked on low in the crockpot and it still stayed liquid. let me doublecheck that lye...
i think it was around there..
