Can I just say I LOVE playing with soap calc? Seeing all the "numbers" for the countless combinations of oils/fats. I LOVE it.

And so, tonight I found myself trying to formulate a shampoo bar. And I came up with these numbers. And I was wondering, do y'all think it'd make a good bar, based just on these numbers?

Thanks!

Your INS is way too low, so it falls out of the "more or less soap" range. I'm not an expert, so no idea if you need the INS for a shampoo or not, but for soap is a necessity. Other then that it looks like total lather love!

It looks fine. Just remember that the numbers aren't everything. The actual oils you are using are going to also make a difference to how the bar acts....

Thanks for the feedback everyone. and thanks, Lindy, for putting this post in the right place - I always forget to categorize them correctly.

I'm using the following oils/butters:
Avocado oil
Castor oil
Cocoa butter
Pig Tallow (lard)
Olive Oil
Palm Kernel Oil flakes (just a tiny bit)
Palm Oil
Shea butter

Open to suggestions from the more experienced folks for replacements if some oils would work better than others here.

I have these oils, and would like to make another shampoo bar, BUT, I make Vegan soap, so if I take out the Tallow and the PKF, can I add macadamia nut oil in it's place. I'm pretty low on Shea butter as well. I need to use some of the oils etc. that I have here before I buy more.

I forgot....I'd like to make a shampoo bar for people with thick hair. Mine is thin and dry, so the oils and butters love me, but my daughter and DIL have thick hair and my shampoo bar made their hair to greasy. Can I use witch hazel?
