I made my second batch of soap yesterday

I used olive oil this time partly because the lard soap smelt like lard for a long time and even now smells a little like lard

I was much happier with how white the lard came out
I tried to colour this time half red half yellow

The red came out pinkie orange, and the yellow came out slightly yellow cream coloured

The olive oil soap is still VERY soft i read someone else had this and its normal for mostly olive oil soap will it eventually harden?

Next time i was thinking of doing half lard half olive oil cos i like the smell of the hardnedd and colour of lard soap but i like the smell of olive oil soap how does it sound ?

100% olive oil soap will remain soft for quite awhile especially if you don't take a water discount. It also take a long time to cure out to be the best bar possible. I use lard but I've not made a 100% lard soap. I use 30-40% Lard along with some Coconut, Olive and Castor. YOu don't get the piggy smell, at least I don't notice it. I too like bubbles and creamy lather. Give it a try and see how you like it. Certainly can't hurt.

I just made a very special 100% olive oil castile soap last night, and even with the small water discount i took the bars will be a bit soft, you shouldnt have much trouble after around 24 hours tho. Just keep it properly ventilated and let it get better with time like a fine wine.
