Well, my second batch of soap is cozy under it's blankets. I used the same OO, CO, PO, Castor as last time, but used MMS lye calculator to make the batch fit my mold exactly, which it did. I also used SweetCakes' Fall Harvest FO and a little turmeric, and got the most beautiful caramel color. I hope it sticks and doesn't lighten or darken too much. I noticed that this time the FO did not accelerate at all; can't be sure if it darkened cuz of the turmeric. On my first batch, the bay rum FO did accelerate -- a lot. It was much more fun not to have to scramble to get it in the mold.

Cross your fingers for me. And thanks for all the help, everyone.

i'm thinking it is going to darken on you. i used tumeric, and it's quite a bit darker now, than when i molded it (using CP)

I just peeked and the color looks about the same so far. We'll see what tomorrow brings. I didn't use very much turmeric, so maybe it won't darken much. I'll post pics in a day or two, assuming it's photogenic!

it looks awesome!

What did you do to get the apple cutout?

Thanks everyone. The apple cutout is just made with a mini cookie cutter, the kind usually used to cut shapes into the tops of pie crusts. I have a lot of them in different shapes from back in the days when I baked pies (and could eat all I wanted!). Ahhhhhh, youth; how fleeting.
