A friend of mine showed it to me. It is from the middle east.
It looks like small shark fins. It is white in color, light weight
and can be grinded. She said they use it for marks on the
body like stretch marks and so forth. But I was curious to know
if anyone in America had ever heard of it or used it.

Probably some sort of flakes.

Any butter might look like this, the description doesn't help much.

Please ask your friend if it isn't shea butter instead ?

If not, a picture of the packaging may help move your question ahead.

Cocoa butter is the most popular choice.. I can't say if its fact, or an old wives tale, but 'cocoa butter' is definately the buzz word for stretch marks.

Ditto.

I've been searching all over the net for 'sea butter' with nothing to show for it. I did run into a link to a soapmaking video which used the words 'sea butter' in the written description of the recipe that was attached to the link, but when I actually clicked onto the video and watched it, it turned out to be shea butter and not 'sea butter'. Whoever wrote the description accidentally left out the letter 'h'.

IrishLass :)

shea doesn't come in flakes, does it? it's too soft?
can't think of what else shark fins would mean.
