I've spent about a month trying to get a salt scrub that isn't worthy of just the garbage can. In this month we've learnt...
1. that certain scents when mixed with turn into sea foam... Not the color... but hard bubbles sitting on top of what would otherwise look like a petrified hot tub.
2. That oil crawls out of bottles even when not moved
3. Salt can and will turn into a rock at the bottom of your scrub even when it looks perfect.

we tried to emulsify the scrub with shaved rebatch (heard this was a good way to do it on another forum) I looked great, it smelt great, but once you go to wash it off it leaves a thick layer of goey stuff all over your hand that your realllllllllllly have to rinse off then towel really well. Any suggestions?

I love emsulsified scrubs. There are some great recipies here: http://aussiesoapsupplies.com.au Depending on the formula, they are adding between 5% and 35% emulsifying wax. This allows your salt or sugar to stay suspended in the scrub, stops oil leakage issues and lets the oil rinse off both yourself and your shower easier.

Emulsified scrubs tare he only scrubs to have in my opinion. I use Polysorbate 80 or Ewax. There's no greasy cleanup after. I also use either shea butter & glycerin or shea butter & aloe vera gel with just a touch of other oil. That way it just melts on skin contact. When you begin to rinse with water, it all turns lotiony, not greasy & washes away, leaving your skin feeling sooooooooooo smooth & soft.

Try using an emulsifyer - Ewax, Polysorbate 80, something like that. I've never tried one using rebatch, simply because I don't like the sound of it. You will find one made with a proper emulsifyer a whole different experience.
