I was told today that scents , essentials oils etc do not stay long in 'oil'...thats why some soaps lose their scent quicker than others.I was told that scent stays well in solids (like bath crystals' or gels....can anyone give me good advice and ideas on how to keep my soaps scented longer ...
what about mixing it in the clay and then swirling clay into soap???
help
Thanking you

Try using a fixative. Orris root powder is one. I just add it to the soap at trace. Benzion powder is another. White Kaolin Clay. Some essential oils are fixatives as well. Base notes like Benzion, Oakmoss, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense, Myrrh, Peru Balsam, Cedarwood, Sandlewood and Vetiver all help to hold the scent of top and middle note essential oils which will disappear faster. They also deepen your scent blends and make them more complex.
