I appreciate all the good advice I get here. Thank you.

When a scent is added to soap (I used Lemongrass E/O at trace), will the scent carry into the lather or only stay with the bar? the batch I made smells WONDERFUL however, the soap does not smell that well when wet.

What is the correct end result and should I be expecting something different?

Also, - Stopped in Newberry, FL this afternoon at a real butcher shop and they gave me 10# of beef fat for the asking when I mentioned I wanted to make homemade soap.:smile::smile: It is on the stove now rendering down to make tallow. How much tallow should I expect after rendering it via boiling and cooling to separate it?

I believe it depends on the scent and how much you use. My first batch I used BB peach scent and it stays on the skin after the shower. The scent was stronger as the soap cured. Now a few of my other soaps are not the same. I smell them when they lather but the scent doesn't linger.

I tried my 2nd batch in the shower, I had used Island Orchards that had come as a freebie from WSP ( I think). In the shower, I could smell the mango, flowers and other fruits as I showered. It did not add a scent to my body. But 2 hours later when I went back into the bathroom I was pleasantly surprise to find the bathroom still carried the aroma I had in the shower.k

I think it depends on the scent and amount too. I have some that leave no scent after using, and some that leave a scent on the skin.
