Thought I had registered for this site, as I visit everyday. Did find out when I went to ask a question that I hadn't. Yesterday I made my second batch of soap and opened a couple of oils (first batch I only used Olive oil) that I did not use all of. Do these go bad, and if so how do you store what is left so it is still good for the next time.

I won't be making a lot of soaps, just for friends and family. I Enjoy this board and am slowly learning the soaping language! Thank You

Well done you! You know that it's the beginning of the end. You will feel compelled to soap from here on. Welcome to the Dark Side.

Olive oil should last for at least 12 months as far as I know especially if you keep it in a cool, dark, dry place. Sunflower oil and safflower are prone to rancidity amongst others (6 month shelf life).

Some may say different. You can also prolong your oils by adding Vit E (Tocopherol) and / or storing them in the fridge.

There are some resources out there online about shelf life of oils. Will try to dig it up for you.

Happy soaping.
