I'm a 28 year old soapstress from the landlocked state of Indiana - and it is perhaps part of my soul-aching desire to be close to the ocean that my soaps/salts/sundries are pirate themed. Hence the username.
I started making soap about 8 years ago. I've always had sensitive skin, prone to dryness and irritation, so that was really my reasoning behind trying to make my own products. Guess what? Homemade soap is nice to my skin.
Somewhere in my adventures, I had a baby - and I stopped making soap. Between nursing and naptime, finding time to set up a chemistry lab in the kitchen fell by the wayside. But, my little kraken is 2 1/2 now and minds well enough to be trusted to keep out from underfoot when I'm "cooking soap." Although, he just dumped fish food in my bed while I was typing this.
