I have been fruitlessly looking for my favorite fragrance from Pier1, Oceans. I have tried every ocean fragrance I can find in hopes of finding it. The Save On Scents dupe is not working for me at all, and I have about 8 more Ocean scents that are not close either. Yesterday I got Ocean from Peak and it's the closest I've come across, but it's a little weak. I have not soaped with it yet, but I think I will just use it in M&P since it's a difficult one.

Can anyone tell me if Salty Sailor is similar to Peak's Ocean? Also thinking of trying Ahoy Matey and Med. Sea Salt from Oregon trails. Any advice before I order more scents?

Thank you!

Wsp has an oceans that is sposed to be pretty good. Have you tried mixing your FOs to get a closer scent?

No, I have not tried mixing them since none of them have come even close to smelling like the fragrance it want, until the Ocean by Peak. I wanted to try Salty Sailor if it's close to the Peak fragrance.

What fragrance from WSP is a good ocean scent?

Thanks!

I do think that Peak's Ocean and Salty Sailor smell very similar. However, in my sample, the Ocean accelerated and also faded. Others have reported the Ocean sticks for them. I haven't tried a large batch. I can say that Salty Sailor smells wonderful. There is a slight edge to it compared to Peak's...it's the "saltiness". It also smelled great once soaped. I highly recommend Salty Sailor.

I just tried "South Pacific Waters" from WSP. It's not a bad ocean scent, but it's a little too floral for my taste. I prefer almost no floral in an ocean scent. I haven't tried any other ocean-y scents from WSP.

DS's Ahoy Matey! is too die for. I can't bring myself to soap it. It deserves to be a body spray, lotion, etc. It's clean, watery, subtle. It reminds me a bit of NG's Aqua di Gio, but the Ahoy Matey has more depth (OOB).

Kharmon320 - Thank you for your input. I am going to order Salty Sailor and Ahoy Matey tonight. I ordered Mediterranean Sea Salt from Oregon Trails today. I'm hoping one of these or a mix of them will give me what I want. I want a clean ozone fragrance with no floral or perfume notes.

How is Salty Sailor and Ahoy Matey different from one another?

Ummm...I suck at scent descriptions. The Salty Sailor is more in your face, whereas the the Ahoy Matey is like an "essence". Does that make any sense? I just can't imagine using the Ahoy Matey in soap because it seems delicate (and it's more expensive).

If you find the perfect ocean scent, let me know. Salty Sailor is the closest I've come yet. Add in some nori dissolved in a bit of water and it lends a more oceany smell and puts small flecks in the soap.

They both sounded so good I ordered a pound of each! Thanks for your input. I get the feeling I can use them in blends to get wht I want. I also ordered Salty Sea Air from Soapsupplies.net. I'm obsessesed with finding the perfect ocean scent. I will follow up to let you know what I think.

My next hunt is for the perfect lemon...

Salty Sailor is also strong in soap. I like strongly scented soap and 1 oz ppo is too much for me. Ahoy Matey almost has a pond scent to it. It's really intriguing. I haven't smelled what you're trying to match so can't comment onthat. I think Salty Sailor almost has a peppery smell in there and the "in your face" comment is dead on.
