Salt preservative....

I was just thinking, isn't soap a preservative?, If so then if fine sea salt were used in a body scrub would a chemical preservative be needed?, please pardon my ignorance as this area outside of soaps is completly new to me

I would think that salt would preserve something much better than soap.
