I've been making salt bars for a while now (don't sell soap, just for our own usage) and I can say my bf absolutely loves it. It's his fav kind of soap and he also uses it for his hair.
As for how much salt to use, I use 80% salt, for example if I have 1000g oils, I use 800g salt.
To disolve it in water you would need to use a looot less than that. The solubility of salt in water is 35.7 grams per 100 ml of water. If you use more salt, it doesn't dissolve and you would get the same result as not dissolving it in water, which wouldn't hurt I guess. But if you add all that salt from the very beginning, wouldn't you get soap on a stick from the starting point of the saponification? Oooohhh, I am curious now. If you guys try it please please, pretty please, do share your experiences.
Happy soaping,
mari
