So i had this idea last night. I brought home some root beer with the intentions of boiling it down like I did with my guiness beer so i can experiment with it in my soap. I want to scent it with Vanilla but Im going to set aside a small portion of the batter that I do not scent so I can have a white "ice cream" top (with a pinch of TD added) and whip it so it floats too....only Im not sure how to make whipped soap yet, so I have some research to do. I know it takes a mixer which i do not have but I do have a whisk attachment for my stick blender.....

Soaping101 has a floating soap tutorial! I think th vanilla seen is a great idea. Save in scents also has a root beer float scent. I can't wait to see it. I think root beer float soap is a great idea!

Thanks! I couldnt think of any other fragrance to scent it with. I though of anise? its kind of a black licorish smell. Cool, I will watch that tutorial today! its my day off and Im making soap damn it lol!

When I first started making soap (a looooooooooong time ago) I would whip my fats until nice and fluffy then add my lye water and stir till thick, it always floated. I used a hand mixer, but your whip might work, you just want a lot of air in it.

My son has become obsessed, for some reason, with me making a soap that floats. sistrum are you saying you only used hard oils in your recipe and whipped them while still in the solid state until they were fluffy?

I just watched this done on soaping 101. looks like you whip your hard oils like coconut and palm then add in soft oils like castor and olive. I definately need to buy a hand mixer i think!

I dont have a regular blender. I'll just pick a hand mixer up at the goodwill soon. Im definately making soap today no matter what lol! Im brain storming right now what to make. I have all these new scents to work with!

Sorry for the delay, yes at the time I was only using hard oils, we didn't have a lot of money back then and I was making soap from the animals we raised to make money to buy replace the ones we just butchered. It worked quite well back in the day.
