Would you all mind giving me your two cents worth on which of the below options are my best bet for a red body butter that won't stain the skin? I'm trying to make a candy cane body butter (no pulverized candy cane in the butter; I'll leave that to the scrub!). I have the following ingredients on hand, which would you all recomend?
My least likely option is this: Stained Glass Apple Red liquid dye from WSP. It says it is water soluble, so I'm guessing it's out? If for some reason, you do think this is the option I should use, let me know if I need a preservative with it. http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/products/stained-glass-apple-red-liquid-color.aspx
Option 2: Matte American Red Oxide pigment powder, also from WSP. I dunno... Looks pretty orang-y to me... http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/products/matte-americana-red-oxide-pigment-powder.aspx
I'm kinda thinking this next one may be my best bet. I know it won't likely get me a true red (at least not used in quantites that wont dye skin), but if it's safe to eat, it's surely skin safe? http://www.wilton.com/store/site/product.cfm?sku=610-906
Thoughts?
