Just what the title says. Any suggestions? I bought a Merlot scent and after cold process, the soaps smell like grape koolaid! I cured it 8 weeks and still have koolaid. This scent had great reviews.

I need a scent for a new distillery featuring making whiskey and vodka.
They would like a couple related scents, one for women and one for men. Help! Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

I can't help with the wine, except to tell you I've had no luck with it. I love a good Cabernet or Bordeaux, so I figured I'd try a soap with the scent. I've tried three and they all came out smelling more like grape soda, or koolaid.

What about making a soap using their wine/liquor as part or all of the liquid? Then color them the color that would be appropriate. Just a thought. I've not tried to make a wine or liquor scents soap so can't help there. Maybe someone else will have a good idea or suggestion for you.

I actually used some red wine in my cranberry fig soap for color and I still think there is a slight wine fragrance to it. I think if you use wine as your liquid, boiled down to burn off the alcohol, you will get a light fragrance. The cranberry fig fo from BB might be a good option.

I use BB's Bordeaux Blend for soaps for my local wine shop, conveniently around the corner ;) People seem to like it, especially in the cool months, but it's not very winey to me. That said, it is not Kool-Aid-ish as many other purported red wine scents are. I also do Champagne, which is awesome and genuinely feels like it tickles the nose, and NG's Cognac & Cubans.
If anyone finds a good red wine scent, we'd all like to hear about it.

I've never made a wine soap, but I have made 2 beer soaps where some of the liquid was flat beer, and some was a whole lotta beer (like 10 oz) cooked down to about 2 oz - so think beer syrup. That soap smells nicely of beer. Would the same process work for red wine do you think maybe?

I've had very good luck with various beer & wine scents, especially when I use beer or wine as my lye liquid. I made some special wedding soaps for my kids that got married this year. My oldest son is a Guinness fan and his bride is a red wine buff. So for his I used BB's Oatmeal Stout FO and all my liquid was boiled down Guinness Stout Beer. For her's I used BB's Bordeaux Blend and used a bottle of Pinot Noir as the liquid. The dark beer and red wine added great color so I didn't need anything more. When my daughter got married last month I made Pinot Grigio for her using BB's Pepperberry as the scent and a bottle of Pinot Grigio as the liquid. Her new husband loves Wells Banana Bread Beer so I paired that with Pumpkin Spice FO. With all the beer and wine, the lather is great. All my kids are really happy with their very special soaps.
