I have a recipe thst i like but it is 21 on the cleansing scale and i would like for it to be a bit lower so it isnt as drying. I belive the coconut oil makes it drying? Recipe is this:
40% lard
30% coconut oil
25% olive oil 76
5% castor oil
5% superfat.
Do i reduce the coconut oil to 25% and increase the lard to 45%? Any other tips for this recipe would be great as well. Ty!!!

You have a couple of choices. You can raise the superfat% or lower the coconut to 25%, raise the Castor to 8% and the olive to 27% or reduce the coconut to 25% and raise the lard to 45%. You might try small batches with variations for the recipe to see which one you like the best.

Oh wow! Ok i will try those. Which one would be best in your opinion?

I like the one with 8% Castor, but that is just me. You may prefer soap made with other variations.

I would up the lard and lower the Co to 25. I don’t care for OO over 25% but others do so it’s a personal choice. One of my recipes is very close to yours. I add a bit of Shea to mine.

Commercial soap is typically 20% CO. I’d start there and if its still to cleansing drop in increments of 5 until u get to 10. You can make up the diff with lard if ur following Shunts 25 OO advice.
