Soap Bar Quality Suggested Range Your Recipe Hardness 29 - 54 44 Cleansing 12 - 22 17 Conditioning 44 - 69 53 Bubbly 14 - 46 17 Creamy 16 - 48 27 Iodine 41 - 70 58 INS 136 - 165 150This one would be in the hardness range I would be looking for, but the cleansing number is on the high side for me, I like 13-15 better for my skin, moisturizing is near the range I tend to get in my recipes - some like more, a LOT more, the palm oils are keeping it lower I think, bubbly is near the range I usually end up with, I find it gives plenty of bubbles, but others want more, creamy I try to go a little higher, iodine and INS are in range. Others may not like the same results I do, so it becomes a matter of personal preference. If you are looking for a soap with higher moisturizing properties maybe cut back on the palm kernel flakes. Look for oils with high moisturizing numbers, such as castor oil or sunflower. But the more soft oils you use the softer the bars. I tend to like hard bars that don't dry my skin out by stripping the oils, but not to leave me feeling like I didn't get rinsed off. To me it's a trial and error, I make one and if I don't like something I try tweaking the recipe to get more of the properties I am looking for.
