Back when I first started soaping (I know, it was soooo long ago LOL), I was more experimental with my recipes then, as opposed to being more experimental with my designs now because I have settled on a few base recipes (3)
I made two salt bars with two different recipes. The first one I found on the web which included coconut oil, olive oil, castor oil, and mango butter, in descending order by weight. The FO accelerated really bad and I did a plop in the cavity mold technique. The second one, which was literally the next day, I did 80/20 coconut oil/olive oil, with no FO, and it behaved nicely for me. These were made in the beginning of July. I know they aren't fully ready for a year, but I started testing out the first bar (with the mango) because I had some slivers of soap to try. It doesn't really get much bubbles at all, more like a creamy lather that dissolves into nothing when I rub my hands together. My hands do feel nice afterwards though. I haven't tried the second bar yet. Both are 50% salt ppo
I thought I took really good notes, but now that I want to go back to make a new batch....I realized my notes sucked (they are much better now LOL....I have recipe cards with pre-printed areas so I don't forget any pertinent information.
I didn't use soap calc then, but I do now, and when I plug those numbers that I used, it doesn't make sense to me. But also mind you, I am a newbie, so I am still trying to make sense out of a lot of things.
The recipe:
312g Coconut Oil
85g Olive Oil
28g Castor Oil
28g Mango Butter
Lye 72g
Water 172g
This recipe didn't come from anybody here. It was a random recipe that I found on the web looking for Salt Bars. And I happen to have Mango Butter, so I ran with it. I think I remember changing it up to the second attempt because I ran out of castor oil, so I looked for a different recipe. I was trying to redo so that I didn't have the plop and cry technique.
