If i want to double my usual recipe, are there any changes that need to be made or is it indeed okay to just double the amount of each ingredient?

awi: I would go to soap calc and insert your doubled ingredients in there. This will then calculate your lye/water amounts.

I don't see why you couldn't double. All the amounts double in soap calc if you double the amount of oils.

Am I missing something?

I would totally recalculate though too for safety sake. There's so much going on when you're making soap that a simple divide by 2 or multiply by 2 can go wrong. (not that it's ever happened to me *cough*)

No you aren't missing anything, except the possibility of miscalculating (tho multiplying by 2 shouldn't be that hard). It's always best to run any change through the lye calculator just in case.

I agree with carebear any changes should always be run through a calculator . It just isn't worth taking a chance on wasting the oils .
