so I think i've read posts where people have done this before, but can't find them.

What if theres nothing actually wrong with your soap, but you just don't like the look or something, but you hate rebatching.

I hate rebatching in the normal way (i do it using crock pot) because I hate the look of lumpy soap, and I can never get rebatched soap to look smooth.

I want to make a fresh batch of soap, and then grate up the other soap that i don't like the look of, add it to the fresh soap, pour and see what happens.

I'm just not sure on a few things.

1: how much fresh soap and how much grated soap would go well together? My mold takes 3 pounds 12 ounces fresh soap.

2: would you be able to tell the grated soap in the new bar, like would it be lumpy, or would the fresh soap heat up the grated soap and meld together and when you cut you wouldn't see grated bit?

any help much appreciated.

Awhile back I made shaving soap and when I added the clay it was just too much so I grated up the soap and added by weight 50% of the grated soap to the new soap at trace. Check out the pic of this, maybe this will give you an idea of how it will turn out. The soap on the left is the one with the grated soap in it. I plan to try this again with some bright colors in white soap, kinda like confetti.

Emilee: I know you just said you hate rebatching, but maybe you can stop hating it.

If you look at page 2, you can see pics of the entire process, and of the finished soap.
Later on (probably in a few weeks, since for now I'm practically buried in soap) I will try adding some Sodium lactate to my next rebatch (as per Knicerlyr suggestion), to facilitate pouring.

Mama: that soap of yours looks incredible!

I believe the recommended amount is 25 to 35 % shreds to fresh.
I like adding shreds to soap.I did one today , it was a rebatch , that I wanted to turn blue, it turned elephant gray .Lucky me ! I added some white shreds and anise eo and it turned out pretty good. I melt the shreds for a rebatch in the crockpot and used the sb on it . It actually made it quite smooth, I was surprised. , I don't care for rebatching either but sometimes I give in and do it.
