You don't have to have a crockpot, you can rebatch in the oven or in freezer bag dropped into boiling water.

I have had ZERO luck with rebatching (as in shredding, melting, remolding etc.) but lately I've started getting all of my old shreds, beveling, trimmings, and ugly bars (and failed rebatches lol) and grating them.. then mixing them in with a basic white soap recipe.

It uses them up, and makes a very OOAK soap :)

Yeah, it'll be gloopy and chunky no matter what you do, but I've done it in the microwave... with a small batch obviously. :)

i dont like rebatching, they turn really chunky and not so nice looking. I got a crock at used place for 8$, never know someone you know may have one they dont want. I do my hp and cp in crock, for cp i put my oils on low then turn off then add my lye/water mixture, i dont have a pot!

If you're patient with it - you can get some very smooth soaps out of rebatching. I use 2 methods - the microwave which I have a tutorial on at http://soapmakingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7369 and the other way that I do it is in the oven. For the oven I put it in a large pot, set the oven for 200 F and let it melt for a couple of hours. About every half hour I will go and stir it, but not much - just enough to mix it and get the heat evenly distributed.

Here is a picture of a rebatch that I just did recently -

This was a rebatch too

And this one too

So I really like breaking that myth that rebatch has to be ugly...
