I soaped at 85 degrees at 33% lye concentration. I used Sweetcakes Sea Spice FO. Within 60 sec of adding the FO I had soap on a stick. UGGHHHH

The soap looks like doodoo.
Maybe its this particular FO but does this recipe look like it would move like the wind? Also, does the cleansing number or conditioning number look too low?

Thanks all you soaping experts :)

i feel your pain...sea spice is a major accelerator...have you joined soap scent review? great for soapers, chandlers & B&B.
http://soapscentreview.obisoap.ca/ well worth your time to explore and participate.

i'm looking at your recipe...is the walmart shortening the vegetable or tallow/palm blend? they soap with quite different results.

just a thought...try running these numbers thru soapcalc...more bubbly and within the conditioning level i like...lard is a much more moisturizing oil, on par with shea butter...swapped out safflower for high oleic sunflower oil...more bubbly...walmart carries this...i can explain later, but it isn't labeled high oleic.

castor 10%
WGVS 30% (tallow)
sunflower 12%
coconut 20%
lard 28%

came back and made this a bit simpler...I don't think you really need the pko and add'l palm...oleic value is 36 and conditioning is 50...with goatsmilk or coconut milk, this would make a nice creamy soap.
