I've just finished a late night soaping session and I just have to vent

It riced. I am so sick of dodgy FO! I know its not my recipe because I use the same one each time with little variation.

There is only one place here that I can buy FO from and I now have a rather large selection of ones I cannot use. I wish they wouldnt sell them for cp soap making if they dont work!

I know I can just put it down to trial and error, but at $16 a 50ml bottle it gets very expensive.

I did find an Australian site that sells Bramble Berry which they have trialled themselves. Think I might have to bite the bullet and pay the excessive freight charges - I guess it will work out cheaper in the long run.

Grrrrr.......As much as I love soap, I am so close to giving up :(

I totally understand,, being in Iceland I have to buy in bulk for it to be economical.. But I have been very lucky with all of my fo's and Eo's, I buy them from WSSP, Daystar and my faveorite The Scent Works and my Eo's from www.roseoil.in .

Hope things get better for you soon and you start to enjoy soaping again..

I can't vouch for the Australian version of the company, but so far the two FO's I've tried (bought 5 total) from the Canadian company are awesome. New Directions Aromatics.

On the canadian site many of the FO's have been reviewed, so I read through what people say if they've posted specifics about CP soap. I don't know if it's the same FO's they sell on all their different country site but you could probably find out by asking the company. I was impressed with the hand-written card that came with my order (a thankyou and bonus discount for next order)

I've been to New Directions here and bought from them and found them to be expensive compaired to others. :(

I agree, I've been VERY happy with my order from them.. and it always arrives timely and wrapped wonderfully. Nothing has ever been damaged or broken or anything.

I only wish I lived closer to them as the shipping prices for UPS in Canada can be a little steep!!! But, ordering from anywhere in the states (which I wish I could do!) seems to kill me in customs, and delivery times.. (7.5 weeks for 2 small bottles of FO and i literally almost live on the border between the state it was coming from and Canada! yikes!)

Thanks everyone. I have just put in an order for some Sweet Cakes FO from the Natural Candle Supply. They were really well priced and the freight for 8 100ml bottles was just under $7.00 which is REALLY cheap!!

I just did the math, and taking into account freight, and exchange rates, it actually works out cheaper for a 100ml bottle from there than a 50ml bottle of the 'dodgy' FO from I have been using.

Yay, thanks for all the advice!

Oh do share what oils did you splash out on :0) I love Sweetcakes oils

Well I got:

Lemon Verbena
Clementine
Cranberry Spice
Green Tea
Precious Amber
Vanilla Lace
Egyptian Musk
Clean

I'm so excited! Can't wait for shipment to arrive.

Hope they are all well behaved - if you have used them before Lyn, any advise would be great :D

Only the Lemon Verbena and it behaves beautifully so no worries there :0) I have been eyeing up the Cranberry spice so will be interested to see how it goes for you. I love getting new oils in the mail!!!! the shipping rate on that was fantastic!!!!! i dont think I could get them shipped here to Brisbane at that price :0). Happy soaping

Lyn ,I go over to the candle supply regularly, its only 1/2 hr away, but I did an order just to see postage to my place and its only $4.50,so thats pretty good. Might pay you to try and see.

I bought the lemon verbena, but haven't soaped with it yet.

Clementine is very light so use the upper limit for this one. Didn't seem to stick in CP all that well for me but reviewers on the SSRBoard all say it sticks and no acceleration or discolouration.

Precious Amber may colour your soap and make it darker but I think it otherwise behaved itself when I used it.

Egyptian Musk is divine but not recommended for soap as it disappears. Mix it with a bit of Jojoba and use it as perfume.

Clean - It sticks forever and is very strong initially - don't use too much.

Thanks for that bubbles galore, shame about the Egyptian Musk

have any of you dealt with Esscentials of Australia before? I placed an order with them on th 4th and never heard back, emailed them twice and nothing, so I cancelled my order and ordered else where. I see yesterday they have charged my credit card for $220 which must be some heafty freight as the original order was only $117.

Ive emailed again and still nothing

I've ordered from them a few times and they were fine. You can't place an order via their system and then cancel it. You can only save an order and then cancel. Hope this makes sense.

You could sort it out faster if you call them.

If I had any criticism of them, it's that their website and ordering system are not particularly user friendly. I'm wondering whether you have accidentally placed two orders and they are going through now? They can be a bit slow in processing orders compared to the others.

When I buy from Natural Candle supply it is like usually a 22kg box of soywax and 48 jars ect so never get to see the smaller postage amounts but have been tempted of late just to order in some new soaping oils to play with.
Has anyone tired any of the Laespa oils yet? I am interested in the Pink Frangapani especially :0)
