Hi all. :) I wanted to do a quick introduction - I made my first soaps about 6 years ago, but stopped a few months and a couple batches later because my fiance would get headaches from any of the scents or fragrance oils I used. Fast forward to present day, and he is getting into candle making, so I decided to step back into soaping to see how I fare.

I've spent the last couple weeks refreshing my memory, and early this week I did a dry run of sorts with a basic olive/coconut/castor recipe to make certain I had everything I would need.

I would appreciate some reviews and constructive criticism of a recipe I've cobbled together while I've been rereading and refreshing. Nothing fancy, just trying to work with what I have at hand.

Lard - 358g (40%)
Coconut Oil - 250.6g (28%)
Olive Oil - 241.65g (27%)
Castor Oil - 44.75g (5%)

I built the recipe in Soapcalc, and it puts me at 340.1g water, and 128.195g lye (whoops, not oil!)

This will be going in a 2-lb mold, and I plan on doing CP, though I'm toying with CPOP. Is there anything you all would suggest changing or tweaking, or perhaps something I can alter slightly that would make this a better recipe for someone starting out?

Thanks so much, looking forward to some good advice!

(Edit - and thanks for the move! I guess I completely overlooked this section of the forum!)

Doh! You're right, I did! :)

I am in the process of getting my gear together for a store grand opening tomorrow (I do temporary body art/face painting as well) so I'm doing two things at once.

Thanks for the feedback!
