I've read of some people adding baby food carrots for a good carrot soap, or canned pumpkin, etc.

I'd be worried that it would go bad quickly. Or is it just fine?

I have a baby food maker so I could make fresh purreed carrots, but I was wondering if I'd need the store bought ones because they already have preservatives in them?

Welcome StrawberryRed!! As Lindy said make sure what you add is pureed. No chunks- they will mold. Also I limit my food purees to 1 Tbsp PPO (per pound oils). Making your own pureed carrots is fine.

Strawberryred I've used as much as 12 oz. of pureed pumpkin in my 5 lb batch with no problems at all, just remember to discount the water for the amount of pureed vegetable your using. :)

I use about 10% of the total oil weight. My first batch I discounted the water for the amount of pureed veg , the second I just used full water and added the puree at trace as normal.
