I can't find a spearmint EO that I like, although I'll admit I've only tried a few. They all seemed to have an unpleasant bitter undertone. So I'm considering infusing some oil with dried spearmint.

Does anybody have any advice for me? Has anyone tried this in CP soap? Or can you recommend a nice, sweet-smelling spearmint EO?

Which ones have you tried?

I have WSP's and it smells great, so does BB's. I do have some EO's I don't like from WSP, don't know why but BB's and ED's were better, imo.

Aroma's are like food though. What I like, you may hate. Say, fish sauce. Some love it, some hate it. Same with any EO or FO. So you may not like WSP, BB, or ED, but may prefer one of the many other soap suppliers EO's or even the ones from the health food store. (Don't know if ED has spearmint yet, they do have a 30% off code on facebook for sample sizes of EO's though, worth a shot for a one ounce size. At least I think the code is still good, each time I go there a screen tells me to check facebook and it is there.) Public access facebook, btw. I don't have a facebook account, so I would not be able to see it if it was not public access.

OOPS! I just saw you are asking about infusing dried spearmint.

I have done it several times. No scent remains in the soap. :( It just smells like any other plant infused oil.

The only plant infused oil I have gotten success from was dried lavender buds. A lot of them. Grind up in coffee grinder or food processor. Put in muslin tea bag, put in jar and cover with oil. Let sit at least 6 weeks. It will smell plant like, but also lavender like.

Are you saying you don't like the scent out-of-bottle or mixed in a product? Because spearmint CAN have a sharp smell, but I find it mellows considerably once it's in a product.

Ok, I'll skip infusing and try another EO brand. Thanks for the advice, and for saving me the trouble of finding out the hard way about the infused oil. I always appreciate learning from someone else's experience!! :p
