product smells

somtimes my lotion bars or body butter smell like plastic. i get ing from soapers choice. anyone else have this problem.

and i do use ess
ential oils, i know we can only add 1% so ooo.

I have not had the same problem, but I normally use 0.5% of any essential oil.

what ingredients are you working with?
do you heat gently?
I found that old Vitamin E gave a rather subtle yet persistent plastic smell.

oh, and there is no hard and fast rules regarding essential oils. some can go higher, some should be much lower.

thanks i would like to use more eo cuz everyone wants more scent but when i talked to texas naturally supplies they said the law was 1percent.

i use coco butter,shea butter, beeswax, apricot kernal, avocado, wheatgerm and little bit on vit e and essential oil.

my cocoa shea and beewax are deodorized and refined.
