Hi, I hope someone can help as I'm absolutely desperate and ready to give up soaping.
I've been making soap for 18 months and suddenly in the last 4 months, not a single batch has worked. They all come out with translucent (not dark) spots on which appear to be softer than the surrounding soap.
My lye supplier is the same and it's fresh lye. I've tried other brands and still get the spots. I've tried changing the water to no avail. I've checked and super washed all equipment incase of residue. I've tried soaping at the same temp as always, slightly higher and lower. My oils are from the same shop.
I do use milk in my soap but I've tried this without and also without any essential oils or colours.
Basically everything I do fails. Every batch I made prior to the last 4 months has been lovely. Please can someone suggest what I'm doing wrong, although I haven't changed anything?
