Hello,
I am making a goats milk lotion and have germaben powder plus and tinosan.
I also make several other lotions without goatsmilk but still need a preservative.
If I am making an 8 oz. lotion for the goatsmilk is germaben added at cool down after essential oils. And how many tsp should i put in.
Does anyone use tinosan and how do you use it?
Thanks.
Just don't want my milk lotions to go bad.

I use Tinosan for making my deodorants (works great). I haven't used it as a preservative yet thought.

Make sure with your goat's milk you aren't using more it at more than 12% of the recipe and the rest of your liquid can be water - if you are using aloe vera extract then you need to reduce that amount from your Goat's Milk to make sure your preservative holds.....

Oh yeah - I use Liquid Germall Plus exclusively now, just because it is soooo reliable without any of the paraben issues which I find customers really keying into right now....

Have fun!

Your Germaben would be added at the cool down phase; to be effective temp must be below 140°. When I make lotions, I measure out my Germaben & FO's (& cyclomethicone, if used) together into a small container and when lotion is sufficiently cool, drizzle the mixture in and SB to incorporate it into the lotion. I add preservative at 1%.

I've never used Tinosan, but my limited notes on it state:
1) it would be added during the cool down phase;
2) is suitable for products with a PH below 7;
3) never use it if your product contains BTMS as the emulsifier or polyquat 7 or honeyquat;
4) must be packaged in opaque or dark containers because light degrades it effectiveness
